COLLECTION SYSTEM (WASTEWATER & STORMWATER) - OPERATOR/INSPECTOR
The Derry Township Municipal Authority provides wastewater collection and treatment, stormwater management and other related services to the greater Hershey area and is seeking applicants for the following full-time position:
Collection Systems Operator/Inspector - The work involves the inspection, operation, and maintenance of the Authority’s wastewater pumping stations and both the wastewater and stormwater pipeline systems. Duties include hydraulic cleaning and televisual inspection of pipelines, and performing inspection, operation, and preventive maintenance of the pump stations. Additionally, this position will periodically serve as backup inspector for pipeline repairs and new pipeline installations. The position involves year-round outside work and frequent heavy lifting. The current work schedule is Monday through Friday 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. with rotating weekend and night on-call duty required after applicable training. There may also be occasional mandatory overtime.
We seek candidates who wish to pursue a career in the wastewater treatment field. Candidates should have solid verbal / written communication and mathematical skills, be detail oriented, personable, and successfully function as part of a team. Minimum qualifications include high school diploma or equivalent. Prior related work experience is desirable but not required.
Applicants must hold a valid PA driver’s license with an acceptable driving record. The successful candidates will also be required to obtain the applicable PA DEP certification within two years of employment and a PA CDL within one year of employment. Interested applicants must reside within approximately 25 miles of Hershey, PA. The successful candidates will be subject to a background check and a pre-employment physical and drug screening.
